When we arrived to the US I realized that Dima, my hubby, loves chicken wings.
Every time we set at a bar he ordered a plate of chicken wings cover with a sticky sauce and I used to close my eyes.
One day he asked me “Maybe we should make these at home?”
Hell no! The most fattening piece of the chicken, deep fried in my kitchen? No way.
After all, if there’s something I really do not like to do in the kitchen it is to fry. And frying chicken wings? It’s so unhealthy.
He insisted on making them. So I agreed in one condition- we will bake it in the oven.
Thus was born the truly great recipe of baked chicken wings. It wasn’t long before Dima wanted his baked wings will be sticky, just like in a bar – and so the following recipe was born.
Ingredients
2 pounds of chicken wings / drum sticks
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of paprika
2 tablespoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
For the sauce
2 cloves crushed garlic
Teaspoon grated ginger
Half a cup of honey
1 Tablespoon of Sriracha
Sesame seeds
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 220º C\ 425º F degrees
-
Combine the baking powder and powdered seasonings in a bowl and mix well
-
Toss the wings with the dry coating
-
Arrange the chicken pieces on a baking pan with a baking sheet and place in the oven
-
Bake wings for 75 minutes, turning every 25 minutes until crispy and done. If you used drum sticks and not wings, after baking 50 minutes, cut each chicken piece in half and return to the oven for another 25 minutes
-
Combine the sauce ingredients in a sauce pan and cook until it starts to bubbling
-
Put the chicken wings in a bowl and pure the sauce over them
-
Sprinkle sesame seeds and serve
