It’s funny that most of my life I was vegetarian . My mom used to make a sexy piece of meat and slice it. I barely could see it, and definitely couldn’t eat it. After two years in the US I really started to get excited about meat. Maybe because I learn how to cook it.
This beef stew with mushrooms and red wine is the first beef recipe I learned from Mom, hope you like it 🙂
Ingredients
2.5-4 of sirloin
24 oz. Champignon mushrooms
8 garlic cloves
3 cups of red wine
2 yellow onion
1 teaspoon of dry/ fresh thym
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions
1. Slice all mushrooms, garlic cloves and onions. Cut the meat into thin strips (1×4 cm.)
2. Heat 2 spoons of olive oil in a pot
3. Add the onion slices into the pot and when it becomes golden, add the meat to the pot, and fry until the meat changes its color to grayish-brown
4. Add the spices, the mushrooms and the wine and cook o high hit until boil
5. When the stew is boiling, simmer, cover with a lid and cook for another hour and half
Notes
– I love beef stew with mushrooms cooks in wine- but If you prefer you can replace the wine with water
– After you simmer the stew, pay attention to the amount of liquid in the pot. If needed add 1/2 a cup of boiling water
