I started tell you guys about the process Dima and I joined: the detox– the detoxification of sugar (white, brown and artificial sweeteners), beef, pork, dairy products, and harmful grains (white flour). We started the process with Hagar Shefer “Detox 21” application, a naturopathic for more than 15 years and the developer of this program.
The app is friendly, convenient and well designed to help the user succeed in the process. In the app, there is a 21- day dairy, and in the end of each day you put a mark on the day that was properly executed. Each day has a different menu.
The app has a prepared shopping list for each week – just go to the supermarket and buy what it says – easy. In addition, there is a variety of recipes suitable for each week, tips and guides to facilitate the process. During the first week I felt exhausted and weak. Frankly, I was surprised to feel that way, because I eat lots of vegetables and fruits, lots of beans. It was hard for me to understand what my body was going through. My stomach was swollen from the dietary fibers and felt uncomfortable during the whole day. On the fourth day that feeling passed. Surprisingly, my perpetual desire for snacks was gone. I was full- always full. I wasn’t hungry when it was time for lunch or dinner but It’s important to follow the menus and eat all five meals to keep the body’s metabolism working.
Our real triumph this week was when we went to the movies on Saturday. When we usually go to the cinema, it is not a question if we have popcorn or not. The real question is whether we will have the family size with refill or without it; this is our small pleasure on Saturday afternoon.
At the end of the first week of Detox, planning to go to the movies, I remembered the intoxicating smell of popcorn. We wanted to have a bite. Almonds and nuts couldn’t satisfy me when the delicious smell of the hot popcorn was in the air. Luckily, I made wonderful apple chips the day before. It’s a recipe from the Detox 21 app, and I totally embrace it for our daily life.
Peel the apples and take away their core. Use a mandolin slicer to cut the apples. Arrange the apples on baking paper in a baking pan. Mix the maple, cinnamon and hot water, and spread over the apples. Bake the apples for about two and a half hours in of 220 ℉ And you will have a delicious snack, fat and guilt free.Ingredients
